Executive Summary

CVE-2026-5267 is an information exposure vulnerability in Ciena Navigator Network Control Suite (NCS). It affects an event-streaming API that fails to enforce proper authentication. An unauthenticated attacker with network access to the service could exploit this to access the event stream and potentially obtain sensitive information.

Detection Guidance

To detect this vulnerability, check if the Ciena Navigator Network Control Suite's event-streaming API is exposed without authentication. Use network scanning tools like nmap to identify open ports and services. Example command: nmap -sV -p- <target_IP>. Inspect API endpoints for unauthenticated access to event streams.

Impact Analysis

This vulnerability could allow unauthorized access to sensitive data transmitted via the event-streaming API. Attackers might intercept confidential information, leading to data breaches, privacy violations, or further exploitation of exposed data.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability could lead to non-compliance with GDPR, HIPAA, or other regulations due to unauthorized data exposure. Organizations may face legal penalties, reputational damage, and loss of trust if sensitive data is compromised through this flaw.

Mitigation Strategies

Immediately restrict network access to the event-streaming API using firewalls or network segmentation. Enable authentication for the API if not already configured. Update to the latest patched version of Ciena NCS if available. Monitor logs for unauthorized access attempts.
