Description

A vulnerability has been identified in Reyrolle 7SR5 (All versions < V2.70). A random number generator is used to generate security-relevant values (such as session identifiers used for authentication purposes) that is not initialized with a True Random Number Generator (TRNG), resulting in a predictable sequence of generated values. This could allow an unauthenticated remote attacker to more easily predict the generated values and impersonate a legitimate authenticated user, potentially gaining unauthorized access to the device.

Executive Summary

This vulnerability affects Reyrolle 7SR5 devices running versions below V2.70. It involves the use of a predictable random number generator for creating security values like session identifiers, which are used for authentication. Since the random number generator is not initialized with a True Random Number Generator (TRNG), the sequence of values it produces can be predicted by attackers.

Impact Analysis

An unauthenticated remote attacker could exploit this vulnerability to predict generated security values, such as session identifiers. This would allow them to impersonate legitimate authenticated users and gain unauthorized access to the affected device. The impact includes potential control over the device and disruption of operations.

Mitigation Strategies

Update Reyrolle 7SR5 to version V2.70 or later to address the predictable random number generation issue.
