Executive Summary

This is a DOM-based Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability in Adobe Experience Manager. An attacker can manipulate the Document Object Model (DOM) to inject malicious JavaScript code that executes in a victim's browser when they visit a specially crafted webpage. The attacker needs the victim to interact by visiting the malicious page.

Detection Guidance

Detection of this DOM-based XSS vulnerability typically involves inspecting web application code for improper handling of user input in the DOM. Use browser developer tools to monitor DOM changes and look for suspicious JavaScript execution. Check for untrusted data being inserted into the DOM without proper sanitization.

Impact Analysis

If exploited, this vulnerability could allow an attacker to execute malicious scripts in your browser session. This may lead to theft of session cookies, sensitive data exposure, or unauthorized actions on your behalf while using Adobe Experience Manager. User interaction is required for exploitation.

Mitigation Strategies

Apply the latest security patches from Adobe for Adobe Experience Manager. Implement input validation and output encoding to prevent malicious JavaScript execution. Use Content Security Policy (CSP) headers to mitigate the impact of XSS attacks. Review and sanitize all user-supplied data before rendering it in the DOM.
