Executive Summary

This is a DOM-based Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability in Adobe Experience Manager. An attacker can manipulate the Document Object Model (DOM) to inject malicious JavaScript code that executes in a victim's browser when they visit a specially crafted webpage. User interaction is required for exploitation.

Detection Guidance

Detection of DOM-based XSS vulnerabilities typically involves manual code review or automated scanning tools. Inspect client-side JavaScript for unsafe DOM manipulations like innerHTML, document.write, or eval. Use browser developer tools to monitor DOM changes and network requests for suspicious payloads. Automated tools like OWASP ZAP or Burp Suite can help identify potential XSS vectors.

Impact Analysis

If exploited, this vulnerability could allow an attacker to steal sensitive information like session cookies, perform actions on your behalf, or redirect you to malicious sites. It may also enable phishing attacks or defacement of web pages you visit.

Mitigation Strategies

Apply Adobe's official security patches or updates for Adobe Experience Manager immediately. Implement Content Security Policy (CSP) headers to restrict inline scripts and external sources. Sanitize user inputs and use secure coding practices to prevent DOM manipulation. Monitor Adobe's security advisories for further updates.
