Executive Summary

This is a stored Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability in Adobe Experience Manager. A low-privileged attacker can inject malicious scripts into vulnerable form fields. When a victim visits the affected page, the malicious JavaScript executes in their browser.

Detection Guidance

To detect this stored XSS vulnerability in Adobe Experience Manager, inspect form fields for unusual input patterns or scripts. Check browser developer tools for unexpected JavaScript execution in pages with forms. Review server logs for suspicious input submissions containing script tags or event handlers like onerror or onload.

Impact Analysis

An attacker could steal session cookies, redirect users to malicious sites, or perform actions on behalf of the victim. It may also lead to unauthorized data access or manipulation if the injected script interacts with sensitive data.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability could lead to data breaches, violating GDPR's integrity and confidentiality requirements or HIPAA's safeguards for protected health information. Organizations may face fines or penalties for failing to protect user data.

Mitigation Strategies

Apply Adobe's official security patches for Experience Manager immediately. Implement input validation and output encoding for all form fields. Restrict low-privileged user permissions to reduce attack surface. Monitor affected pages for unauthorized script injections.
