Executive Summary

Adobe Experience Manager has a stored Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability. A low-privileged attacker can inject malicious scripts into vulnerable form fields. When a victim visits the affected page, the malicious JavaScript executes in their browser.

Detection Guidance

Detecting this stored XSS vulnerability requires manual inspection of Adobe Experience Manager form fields. Check input fields in forms for improper input validation by submitting test payloads like <script>alert(1)</script> and observing if the script executes. Review server logs for unusual input patterns or errors related to XSS.

Impact Analysis

An attacker could steal session cookies, redirect you to malicious sites, or perform actions on your behalf. This could lead to unauthorized access to your data or account if you interact with the compromised page.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability could expose sensitive user data, violating GDPR's data protection requirements or HIPAA's privacy rules. Organizations may face compliance penalties if user data is compromised due to this flaw.

Mitigation Strategies

Apply Adobe's official security patches immediately. Implement strict input validation and output encoding for all form fields. Restrict user privileges to the minimum required. Monitor Adobe's security advisories for updates and consider disabling vulnerable features if patches are unavailable.
