Executive Summary

This vulnerability involves the XSLT Transformer Step creating a TransformerFactory without proper security settings. This allows XML External Entity (XXE) injection attacks, which can lead to unauthorized data exfiltration and denial-of-service conditions.

Impact Analysis

An attacker could exploit this to steal sensitive data or disrupt services by sending malicious XML input. The high CVSS score indicates significant risk of confidentiality breaches and operational disruption.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability could lead to unauthorized data access or loss, violating GDPR's data protection requirements and HIPAA's safeguards for protected health information. Non-compliance risks include fines and legal penalties.

Mitigation Strategies

Configure the XSLT Transformer Step to use a secure TransformerFactory with proper security options enabled to prevent XXE injection. Ensure all XML parsers are hardened with features like disabling external entity processing and DTDs.
