Description

Insecure access controls on internal service ports in Brocade SANnav versions before 3.0.1a allow local, non-administrative host users to communicate directly with backend management services. A local attacker can leverage this exposed access to transmit commands to connected Fabric OS switches under the security context of the SANnav management user.

Executive Summary

This vulnerability involves insecure access controls in Brocade SANnav versions before 3.0.1a. Local non-administrative users can directly communicate with backend management services. An attacker could exploit this to send commands to Fabric OS switches under the SANnav management user's security context.

Detection Guidance

Check for open internal service ports on Brocade SANnav systems using network scanning tools like nmap to identify exposed backend management services. Inspect running processes and listening ports on the SANnav host for unauthorized local service exposure.

Impact Analysis

A local attacker could gain unauthorized control over connected switches, potentially altering configurations, disrupting operations, or accessing sensitive data. This could lead to data breaches, service outages, or unauthorized network access.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability could lead to unauthorized access to sensitive data, violating confidentiality requirements in GDPR and HIPAA. Organizations may face compliance violations, legal penalties, and reputational damage if exploited.

Mitigation Strategies

Upgrade Brocade SANnav to version 3.0.1a or later to address insecure access controls. Restrict local user permissions and block unnecessary internal service port access through firewall rules or host-based controls.
