Executive Summary

CVE-2026-82762 is an OS command injection vulnerability in Contec FX5000, FX4000, and FX3000 series products. It occurs due to improper input validation, allowing attackers with login access to execute arbitrary OS commands. This could lead to unauthorized data access, system tampering, or malware execution.

Detection Guidance

Detecting this OS command injection vulnerability requires checking if your Contec FLEXLAN devices are running outdated firmware versions. Verify the firmware version of FX5000, FX4000, or FX3000 series devices against the recommended updates (1.12.00 for FX5000/FX4000, 1.14.00 for FX3000). Use network scanning tools to identify affected devices and their firmware versions.

Impact Analysis

If exploited, this vulnerability may allow attackers to steal sensitive data, modify system configurations, install malicious software, or disrupt operations. Systems running outdated firmware versions are at risk.

Mitigation Strategies

Immediately update the firmware of all affected Contec FLEXLAN devices to the latest versions specified by the vendor (1.12.00 for FX5000/FX4000, 1.14.00 for FX3000). Isolate or restrict access to these devices if updates cannot be applied immediately to prevent potential exploitation.
