Detection Guidance

This vulnerability affects Oracle WebCenter Portal versions 12.2.1.4.0 and 14.1.2.0.0. Detection involves checking for exposed instances of Oracle WebCenter Portal accessible via HTTP. Verify if the service is running on default ports (typically 80, 443, or custom ports) and inspect network traffic for unauthorized access attempts or unusual data exfiltration patterns.

Impact Analysis

An attacker could exploit this to gain unauthorized access to sensitive data stored in Oracle WebCenter Portal. They may also be able to modify or delete some data. Since no authentication is required, the risk of exploitation is high if the system is exposed to the network.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability could lead to unauthorized access or modification of personal or sensitive data, violating compliance requirements under GDPR and HIPAA. Organizations using affected versions must address this to maintain regulatory compliance and protect data integrity.

Mitigation Strategies

Apply the latest Oracle WebCenter Portal patches or updates as soon as possible to address the vulnerability. Ensure network access controls restrict HTTP traffic to trusted sources only. Monitor for unauthorized access or data changes in Oracle WebCenter Portal.
