Executive Summary

This is a critical vulnerability in Oracle Internet Directory (OID) versions 12.2.1.4.0 and 14.1.2.1.0. An unauthenticated attacker can remotely exploit it via LDAP to take over the OID server. The flaw allows full compromise of the system with severe impacts on confidentiality, integrity, and availability.

Detection Guidance

This vulnerability affects Oracle Internet Directory versions 12.2.1.4.0 and 14.1.2.1.0. Detection involves checking the installed version of Oracle Internet Directory. Use commands like 'ldapsearch -h <host> -p <port> -s base -b "" supportedLDAPVersion' to verify the version. Ensure no unauthorized LDAP access is permitted.

Impact Analysis

If you use affected Oracle Internet Directory versions, an attacker could gain complete control over your OID server. This may lead to unauthorized access to sensitive data, disruption of services, and potential compromise of other connected systems.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability could lead to unauthorized data access or breaches, violating GDPR (data protection) and HIPAA (health data privacy). Organizations using affected versions may face compliance failures, legal penalties, and reputational damage due to potential data exposure.

Mitigation Strategies

Apply the latest Oracle Critical Patch Update immediately. Restrict network access to LDAP ports (default 389/636) using firewalls. Disable unauthenticated LDAP access if possible. Monitor for unusual LDAP activity and update to a patched version of Oracle Internet Directory.
