Executive Summary

This is a critical vulnerability in Oracle Internet Directory versions 12.2.1.4.0 and 14.1.2.1.0. It allows an unauthenticated attacker to remotely compromise the system via network access using T3 or IIOP protocols. Successful exploitation could lead to complete takeover of the Oracle Internet Directory service.

Detection Guidance

Detection requires checking for Oracle Internet Directory versions 12.2.1.4.0 or 14.1.2.1.0 and verifying if T3 or IIOP ports are exposed. Use commands like 'netstat -tulnp | grep -E "T3|IIOP"' or 'ss -tulnp | grep -E "T3|IIOP"' to identify listening ports. Ensure Oracle Internet Directory services are patched to the latest version.

Impact Analysis

If you use affected Oracle Internet Directory versions, an attacker could gain full control over your directory service. This may allow unauthorized access to sensitive data, modification of directory contents, or disruption of directory services, leading to potential data breaches or service outages.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability could severely impact compliance with GDPR, HIPAA, and other regulations. Unauthorized access or modification of directory data may result in data breaches, leading to legal penalties, loss of trust, and potential fines under these standards.

Mitigation Strategies

Apply the latest Oracle Critical Patch Update for Oracle Internet Directory immediately. Restrict network access to T3 and IIOP ports for untrusted sources. Monitor for unusual LDAP server activity or unauthorized access attempts.
