Executive Summary

This is a critical vulnerability in Oracle Forms, a component of Oracle Fusion Middleware. It allows an unauthenticated attacker to remotely compromise the system via HTTP without needing any credentials. Successful exploitation could lead to complete takeover of Oracle Forms.

Detection Guidance

Detection requires checking for Oracle Forms versions 12.2.1.19.0 or 14.1.2.0.0 running on your network. Inspect Oracle Forms services via network scans for HTTP ports typically used by Oracle Forms (e.g., 9001, 9002). Verify software versions using commands like 'opatch lsinventory' or checking Oracle Forms logs for version details.

Impact Analysis

If you use Oracle Forms versions 12.2.1.19.0 or 14.1.2.0.0, an attacker could gain full control over your Oracle Forms system. This could result in unauthorized access to sensitive data, modification or deletion of critical files, and disruption of services.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability could lead to unauthorized access or disclosure of personal or sensitive data, violating GDPR and HIPAA requirements. Organizations using affected versions may face compliance violations, legal penalties, and reputational damage.

Mitigation Strategies

Apply the latest Oracle Critical Patch Update for Oracle Forms immediately. Disable HTTP access to Oracle Forms if not required. Restrict network access to Oracle Forms ports via firewalls. Monitor Oracle security advisories for patches and updates.
