Executive Summary

This is a critical vulnerability in Oracle Forms, a component of Oracle Fusion Middleware. It allows an unauthenticated attacker with network access via HTTP to compromise the system. Successful exploitation could lead to complete takeover of Oracle Forms.

Detection Guidance

This vulnerability affects Oracle Forms versions 12.2.1.19.0 and 14.1.2.0.0. Detection involves checking for exposed Oracle Forms services on HTTP ports. Inspect network traffic for connections to ports 80, 443, or Oracle-specific ports like 9001. Use tools like nmap to scan for Oracle Forms services: nmap -p 80,443,9001 --script oracle-forms-banner <target>. Check server logs for unusual HTTP requests targeting Oracle Forms endpoints.

Impact Analysis

If exploited, this vulnerability could allow attackers to gain full control over Oracle Forms, potentially leading to unauthorized access, data breaches, or disruption of services. Systems running affected versions (12.2.1.19.0 or 14.1.2.0.0) are at risk.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability allows unauthenticated attackers to compromise Oracle Forms, potentially leading to unauthorized access, data breaches, or system takeover. Such impacts could violate GDPR's data protection requirements or HIPAA's safeguards for protected health information if exploited.

Mitigation Strategies

Apply the latest Oracle Critical Patch Update (CPU) for Oracle Forms to address the vulnerability. Ensure network access controls restrict HTTP access to trusted sources only. Monitor Oracle's security advisories for updates and patches.
