Executive Summary

This vulnerability affects Oracle Mobile Application Server in Oracle E-Business Suite versions 12.2.3 to 12.2.15. It allows an unauthenticated attacker with access to the physical network segment where the server operates to take over the server. The attack requires proximity to the hardware but no prior authentication.

Detection Guidance

Detection requires identifying Oracle Mobile Application Server instances running versions 12.2.3 to 12.2.15. Check server logs for unusual activity or connections to the MWA Terminal Server component. Network monitoring for unauthorized physical segment access may also help.

Impact Analysis

If exploited, this vulnerability could lead to complete compromise of the Oracle Mobile Application Server. This means an attacker could gain full control over the server, potentially accessing, modifying, or deleting sensitive data, disrupting services, or using the server as a foothold for further attacks within the network.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability allows an unauthenticated attacker with physical network access to compromise the Oracle Mobile Application Server, potentially leading to full system takeover. This could result in unauthorized access to sensitive data, which may violate compliance requirements under GDPR (data protection) and HIPAA (health information privacy).

Mitigation Strategies

Apply the latest Oracle Critical Patch Update for E-Business Suite. Restrict physical and network access to the Oracle Mobile Application Server hardware. Consider isolating the server from untrusted networks until patched.
