Executive Summary

This is a path traversal vulnerability where an attacker with control of a network directory server could exploit improper path validation to execute arbitrary code with root privileges on affected macOS systems.

Impact Analysis

If exploited, this vulnerability could allow an attacker to gain full control of your system, install malware, steal data, or perform other malicious actions with the highest system privileges.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability could lead to unauthorized access to sensitive data, potentially violating GDPR (data protection) and HIPAA (health information privacy) requirements for secure data handling and access controls.

Mitigation Strategies

Update affected macOS systems to the fixed versions: macOS Golden Gate 27, macOS Sequoia 15.8, or macOS Tahoe 26.7. Ensure network directory servers are not under attacker control and restrict access to trusted sources only.
