Executive Summary

Jenkins LDAP Plugin versions 807.809.vd3a_4e5e4ec98 and earlier have a vulnerability where Stapler data binding allows attackers to specify a URL for the plugin to connect to. This could enable unauthorized network connections to external or internal systems controlled by the attacker.

Detection Guidance

This vulnerability involves the Jenkins LDAP Plugin allowing connections to attacker-specified URLs. To detect it, inspect Jenkins plugin configurations for unauthorized LDAP server URLs or unusual network connections to external endpoints. Check Jenkins logs for Stapler data binding anomalies or unexpected LDAP connection attempts.

Impact Analysis

This vulnerability could allow attackers to exfiltrate data, perform internal network reconnaissance, or launch further attacks by tricking the plugin into connecting to malicious endpoints. It may lead to unauthorized access or data breaches depending on the Jenkins environment configuration.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability allows attackers to connect to an attacker-specified URL through the Jenkins LDAP Plugin. While it does not directly expose sensitive data, it could enable unauthorized network connections that may violate compliance requirements for data protection and access control in standards like GDPR and HIPAA.

Mitigation Strategies

Update Jenkins LDAP Plugin to version 807.810.vc6a_5e5e4ec99 or later to address the vulnerability.
