Executive Summary

This vulnerability affects the WordPress plugin All in One Files Upload for WooCommerce. It allows unauthenticated users to upload SVG files without proper sanitization or verification. These files can contain malicious scripts that execute when accessed by a victim, leading to stored Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) attacks.

Detection Guidance

Check if the All in One Files Upload for WooCommerce plugin is installed and its version. If it is between 2.0.3 and 2.0.16, it is vulnerable. Look for unexpected SVG files in upload directories and review server logs for unauthorized upload attempts.

Impact Analysis

An attacker could upload a malicious SVG file to your WordPress site. When you or other users access the file, embedded scripts may run in your site's context, potentially stealing cookies, session tokens, or other sensitive data. This could lead to account takeovers or defacement of your website.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability could lead to unauthorized access to user data, violating GDPR's data protection requirements. For HIPAA, it may expose protected health information if the plugin is used in healthcare contexts. Compliance failures could result in legal penalties and reputational damage.

Mitigation Strategies

Update the All in One Files Upload for WooCommerce plugin to version 2.0.17 or later immediately. Disable SVG uploads if not required and implement strict file upload validation to block executable scripts in uploaded files.
