Executive Summary

This vulnerability is an improper authorization issue in WatchGuard Fireware OS's SAML login process. A remote, authenticated SAML user with only Access Portal access can exploit a specially crafted request to gain unauthorized Mobile VPN with SSL access.

Detection Guidance

Check Fireware OS versions for affected ranges (2026.3-2026.3.2, 2025.0-2026.2.3, 12.0-12.12.3, or T15/T35 models 12.0-12.5.21). Review SAML login logs for unusual Mobile VPN with SSL access attempts by Access Portal users.

Impact Analysis

An attacker could bypass intended access restrictions and gain unauthorized VPN access, potentially exposing internal network resources. This could lead to data breaches or unauthorized system access if exploited.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability could lead to unauthorized access to sensitive data, violating confidentiality requirements in GDPR and HIPAA. Organizations may face compliance violations if exploited.

Mitigation Strategies

Upgrade Fireware OS to patched versions (2026.3.2, 2026.2.3, 12.12.3, or 12.5.21). Disable Mobile VPN with SSL access for SAML users until patched. Monitor for unauthorized VPN access attempts.
