Vulnerability report for CVE-2026-88028, including description, CVSS score, EPSS score, affected products, exploitability, helpful resources, and attack-flow context.

Publication date: 2026-09-10

Last updated on: 2026-09-10

Assigner: MongoDB, Inc.

Description

Improper neutralization of special elements in data query logic in the polymorphic relation handling of the MongoDB integration for Laravel can cause a caller-supplied relation identifier to be interpreted as a query condition rather than as a literal identifier. Executive Summary

This vulnerability involves improper handling of special elements in data query logic within the MongoDB integration for Laravel. It allows a user-supplied relation identifier to be misinterpreted as a query condition instead of a literal identifier. This could cause the application to return unintended documents rather than the correct relation target.

Impact Analysis

An authenticated attacker who can manipulate a stored relation identifier may cause the application to return unauthorized or incorrect data. This could lead to data leaks, incorrect application behavior, or potential privilege escalation depending on the affected system.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability could lead to unauthorized data access or disclosure, violating confidentiality requirements under GDPR and HIPAA. Organizations may face compliance violations, legal penalties, or reputational damage if exploited.

Mitigation Strategies

Update Laravel and the MongoDB integration to the latest patched versions to address the improper neutralization issue in polymorphic relation handling.
