Executive Summary

This vulnerability involves GeoVision GV-LPC2211 V1.13 software where an oversized password provided via the ONVIF SetUser command is copied into a fixed-size stack buffer. This causes a buffer overflow, which can crash the ONVIF worker process running on the device.

Impact Analysis

An authenticated administrator could exploit this flaw to crash the ONVIF service on the device, leading to denial of service. This disrupts camera management and monitoring capabilities until the device is rebooted or the service is manually restarted.

Mitigation Strategies

Update GeoVision GV-LPC2211 to the latest firmware version to patch the stack overflow issue in the ONVIF SetUser password handling.
