Executive Summary

This vulnerability is an improper access control issue in TeamViewer Full Client, Host, and related modules on Windows, Linux, and macOS. An authenticated remote attacker can bypass user-configured permission settings during session setup by modifying access control parameters for restricted features. This allows unauthorized actions and may lead to remote code execution on the target system.

Detection Guidance

Detection requires monitoring for unauthorized modifications to TeamViewer session parameters or unexpected remote actions. Check TeamViewer logs for unusual session establishment attempts or permission bypass events. Inspect network traffic for unexpected connections to TeamViewer-related endpoints. No specific commands are provided in the available context.

Impact Analysis

If exploited, this vulnerability could allow an attacker to perform actions on your system that you explicitly denied in your TeamViewer settings. This might include accessing sensitive files, installing malware, or taking control of your device remotely, potentially leading to data theft or further compromise.

Mitigation Strategies

Update TeamViewer to the latest patched version immediately. Disable unnecessary TeamViewer features or restrict remote access permissions. Monitor for suspicious activity and restrict network access to TeamViewer services. Review and enforce strict access controls for all TeamViewer sessions.
