CWE ID Description
CWE-190 The product performs a calculation that can produce an integer overflow or wraparound when the logic assumes that the resulting value will always be larger than the original value. This occurs when an integer value is incremented to a value that is too large to store in the associated representation. When this occurs, the value may become a very small or negative number.

Executive Summary

CVE-2025-58771 is an Integer Overflow or Wraparound vulnerability in AMI AptioV BIOS versions up to 5.04. It allows local attackers to trigger buffer overflows, memory corruption, and arbitrary code execution by exploiting integer overflows. The vulnerability has a CVSS score of 7.1, indicating high impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability.

Detection Guidance

Detection requires checking the AptioV BIOS version. Compare your system's BIOS version against version 5.04. If your version is older, the vulnerability may be present. Use system-specific tools or firmware utilities to inspect the BIOS version.

Impact Analysis

This vulnerability could allow an attacker with local access to execute arbitrary code on the system, potentially leading to unauthorized data access, system crashes, or complete system compromise. It may also enable privilege escalation if combined with other vulnerabilities.

Mitigation Strategies

Update the AptioV BIOS to version 5.04 or later. This version includes the fix for CVE-2025-58771. Follow AMI's official update procedures to avoid bricking the system.
