Executive Summary

This vulnerability involves improper verification of cryptographic signatures in DigiDoc software. An attacker can create forged digital signatures that appear valid to affected DigiDoc applications, including libdigidocpp, DigiDoc4, DigiDoc Android, and DigiDoc iOS.

Detection Guidance

To detect this vulnerability, check the installed versions of DigiDoc software against the affected ranges: libdigidocpp before 4.5.0, DigiDoc4 before 4.11.0, DigiDoc Android before 3.1.0, or DigiDoc iOS before 3.1.0. Update to patched versions immediately if affected.

Impact Analysis

This vulnerability allows attackers to forge digital signatures, which could lead to unauthorized transactions, falsified documents, or impersonation in systems relying on DigiDoc software for signature validation.

Compliance Impact

Forgery of digital signatures could undermine non-repudiation and integrity requirements in GDPR and HIPAA, potentially violating compliance by allowing unauthorized or falsified document approvals.

Mitigation Strategies

Update affected DigiDoc software to the latest patched versions: libdigidocpp to 4.5.0 or later, DigiDoc4 to 4.11.0 or later, DigiDoc Android to 3.1.0 or later, and DigiDoc iOS to 3.1.0 or later. Download updates from official sources like id.ee.
