CWE ID Description
CWE-89 The product constructs all or part of an SQL command using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify the intended SQL command when it is sent to a downstream component. Without sufficient removal or quoting of SQL syntax in user-controllable inputs, the generated SQL query can cause those inputs to be interpreted as SQL instead of ordinary user data.
CWE-74 The product constructs all or part of a command, data structure, or record using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify how it is parsed or interpreted when it is sent to a downstream component.

Executive Summary

This vulnerability is a SQL injection flaw in Comsenz Discuz! X5.0 versions 20260801, 20260820, and 20260910. It exists in the modmedalsubmit function of the file upload/source/app/admin/child/medals/mod.php, specifically in the delete argument. An attacker can manipulate this argument to inject malicious SQL code, potentially accessing or modifying database contents.

Detection Guidance

To detect this SQL injection vulnerability in Comsenz Discuz!, inspect network traffic for suspicious requests targeting the modmedalsubmit function in upload/source/app/admin/child/medals/mod.php. Look for unusual SQL syntax like 'UNION SELECT' or excessive database errors in logs. Monitor for remote requests with the 'delete' parameter manipulation.

Impact Analysis

This vulnerability allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary SQL commands on the database. This could lead to unauthorized data access, data manipulation, or even complete database compromise. Since the exploit is public, attackers may already be exploiting it.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability could lead to unauthorized access or modification of sensitive data, violating GDPR's data protection principles and HIPAA's security requirements. Organizations using affected Discuz! versions may face compliance violations, legal penalties, and reputational damage if exploited.

Mitigation Strategies

Immediately update Comsenz Discuz! to the latest patched version if available. If no patch exists, disable the Admin Medal Moderation component or restrict access to the modmedalsubmit function in upload/source/app/admin/child/medals/mod.php. Monitor network traffic for unusual SQL queries targeting this component.
