Description

A security vulnerability has been detected in kishor-23 food-waste-management-system 411989e3ecb82895e53dca7865f72145f03d7d93/b3a70b2c492dc9904de5be1ad9389bd79b87f82c. Impacted is an unknown function of the file delivery/deliverymyord.php. The manipulation of the argument delivery_person_id/order_id leads to sql injection. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely. The exploit has been disclosed publicly and may be used. This product is using a rolling release to provide continious delivery. Therefore, no version details for affected nor updated releases are available. The project was informed of the problem early through an issue report but has not responded yet.

CWE ID Description
CWE-89 The product constructs all or part of an SQL command using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify the intended SQL command when it is sent to a downstream component. Without sufficient removal or quoting of SQL syntax in user-controllable inputs, the generated SQL query can cause those inputs to be interpreted as SQL instead of ordinary user data.
CWE-74 The product constructs all or part of a command, data structure, or record using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify how it is parsed or interpreted when it is sent to a downstream component.

Executive Summary

This is an unauthenticated SQL injection vulnerability in the food-waste-management-system. It affects the file delivery/deliverymyord.php where user-supplied inputs delivery_person_id and order_id are directly used in SQL queries without proper sanitization. Attackers can manipulate these parameters to inject malicious SQL code, potentially accessing or altering database contents.

Detection Guidance

To detect this SQL injection vulnerability, monitor POST requests to /delivery/deliverymyord.php for unusual parameters like delivery_person_id or order_id. Use tools like SQLmap to test for injection by sending crafted payloads such as ' OR 1=1 -- or ' UNION SELECT NULL, NULL --. Check server logs for repeated failed authentication attempts or malformed queries.

Impact Analysis

An attacker could exploit this to modify or corrupt data in the food_donations table, perform bulk order reassignments, or extract sensitive data through blind SQL injection. Since no authentication is required, the attack can be executed remotely by sending crafted POST requests to the vulnerable endpoint.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability could lead to unauthorized data access or modification, violating GDPR's data integrity and confidentiality requirements and HIPAA's safeguards for protected health information. Organizations using this system may face compliance violations, legal penalties, and reputational damage due to potential data breaches.

Mitigation Strategies

Immediately disable the affected endpoint /delivery/deliverymyord.php if possible. Apply input validation to sanitize delivery_person_id and order_id parameters. Replace direct SQL queries with prepared statements using parameterized queries. Ensure proper session termination and implement CSRF tokens. Restrict database user privileges to least privilege.
