Executive Summary

This vulnerability is a relative path traversal issue in Satel Netco Design versions before v2.1.7. It allows an authenticated user with Viewer privileges to access file paths outside the intended directory by exploiting the data import functionality. The attacker can use application responses to check if specific files exist on the host system.

Impact Analysis

An attacker could exploit this to gain unauthorized access to sensitive files on the system, potentially leading to information disclosure. This includes files outside the application's intended directory, which may contain confidential or system-critical data.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability could lead to non-compliance with GDPR or HIPAA by exposing sensitive personal or health data. Unauthorized file access may violate data protection requirements, leading to legal penalties, reputational damage, and loss of trust.

Mitigation Strategies
