Executive Summary

This is a Stored Cross-site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability in Tuleap Enterprise Edition versions 17.0 through 17.5. It allows an attacker to inject malicious scripts that are stored on the server and then executed in a user's browser session when they access the affected page.

Detection Guidance

Detecting this XSS vulnerability requires checking Tuleap Enterprise Edition versions between 17.0 and 17.5. Inspect web application logs for unusual script injections or user inputs containing executable code. Use browser developer tools to monitor for unexpected script execution in user sessions.

Impact Analysis

An attacker could steal session cookies, redirect users to malicious sites, or perform actions on behalf of users. This could lead to unauthorized access to sensitive data or account takeover if the user has elevated privileges.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability could lead to data breaches, which may violate GDPR's data protection requirements or HIPAA's safeguards for protected health information. Organizations could face fines or penalties for failing to protect user data adequately.

Mitigation Strategies

Immediately update Tuleap Enterprise Edition to a version beyond 17.5. Apply security patches provided by Dassault Systèmes. Review and sanitize user inputs to prevent script injection. Monitor affected systems for signs of exploitation.
