Executive Summary

This vulnerability is a server-side request forgery (SSRF) flaw in O2OA up to version 10.0.1-ce. It exists in the ActionUploadExcelWithUrl function of the General Module, specifically in the file path /x_general_assemble_control/jaxrs/excel/upload/with/url. An attacker can manipulate the fileUrl argument to force the server to make unauthorized requests.

Detection Guidance

To detect this SSRF vulnerability in O2OA, inspect network logs for unusual outbound requests from the server, particularly to internal or unexpected external addresses. Check if the fileUrl parameter in /x_general_assemble_control/jaxrs/excel/upload/with/url is being manipulated. Monitor for unauthorized access attempts or data exfiltration.

Impact Analysis

The SSRF flaw allows remote attackers to send crafted requests from the vulnerable server. This could lead to internal network probing, unauthorized access to sensitive data, or further exploitation of internal systems. The exploit is publicly available, increasing the risk of real-world attacks.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability may violate compliance requirements under GDPR and HIPAA by exposing sensitive data or internal systems to unauthorized access. GDPR requires protecting personal data, while HIPAA mandates safeguarding health information. A successful SSRF attack could lead to data breaches, resulting in legal and financial penalties.

Mitigation Strategies

Update O2OA to a version beyond 10.0.1-ce where the flaw has been addressed. If an update is not available, restrict access to the affected endpoint /x_general_assemble_control/jaxrs/excel/upload/with/url and monitor for unusual server-side request forgery attempts.
