Executive Summary

This vulnerability in the Visual Form Builder WordPress plugin (version 3.1 or below) allows authenticated users with Subscriber-level access or higher to view sensitive form submission data through a dashboard widget. The plugin fails to perform proper authorization checks before displaying this data, which includes names, email addresses, form titles, and timestamps of other users' submissions.

Detection Guidance

Check WordPress dashboard widgets for unauthorized display of form submission data. Inspect plugin version 3.1 or below. Review user roles with Subscriber access or higher for unusual activity.

Impact Analysis

An attacker with Subscriber access or higher could access other users' personal information such as names and email addresses. This could lead to privacy breaches, phishing attacks, or unauthorized use of contact details. The exposure of form titles and timestamps may also reveal sensitive patterns or user activity.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability likely violates GDPR as it exposes personal data without proper authorization. It may also conflict with HIPAA if health-related forms are involved, as unauthorized access to patient data is prohibited. Organizations using this plugin could face legal penalties and reputational damage.

Mitigation Strategies

Update Visual Form Builder plugin to the latest version. Remove Subscriber-level access if not required. Monitor dashboard widgets for sensitive data exposure.
