Privilege Escalation in Progress Telerik Report Server

Vulnerability report for CVE-2026-106145, including description, CVSS score, EPSS score, affected products, exploitability, helpful resources, and attack-flow context.

Publication date: 2026-10-09

Last updated on: 2026-10-09

Assigner: Progress Software Corporation

Description

In Progress® Telerik® Report Server prior to version 12.2.26.1007, incorrect privilege assignment in the service-agent SignalR hub allows an authenticated user, including a low-privilege or guest account with a valid bearer token, to register as a trusted service agent. On the next server settings-synchronization event, the rogue agent receives storage settings and encryption private keys. This privilege escalation enables disclosure of protected secrets, including stored data-source credentials and connection strings, and allows agent impersonation and interference with task dispatch.

Executive Summary

This vulnerability exists in Progress Telerik Report Server versions before 12.2.26.1007. An incorrect privilege assignment in the service-agent SignalR hub allows an authenticated user, even with low privileges or a guest account, to register as a trusted service agent. This leads to privilege escalation where the rogue agent can receive storage settings and encryption private keys during server synchronization.

Detection Guidance

Check Telerik Report Server version for versions prior to 12.2.26.1007. Inspect SignalR hub logs for unauthorized agent registrations or unexpected synchronization events. Monitor for unusual access to storage settings or encryption keys.

Impact Analysis

This vulnerability allows an attacker to escalate privileges, access protected secrets such as stored data-source credentials and connection strings, and impersonate agents. This could lead to unauthorized data access, data breaches, or interference with task execution in the Telerik Report Server.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability could lead to unauthorized access to sensitive data, violating confidentiality requirements under GDPR and HIPAA. Exposure of stored credentials and connection strings may result in non-compliance with data protection regulations, potentially leading to legal penalties and reputational damage.

Mitigation Strategies

Upgrade Telerik Report Server to version 12.2.26.1007 or later immediately. Review and revoke any unauthorized service agent registrations. Rotate all stored secrets and connection strings if exposed.
