CWE ID Description
CWE-441 The product receives a request, message, or directive from an upstream component, but the product does not sufficiently preserve the original source of the request before forwarding the request to an external actor that is outside of the product's control sphere. This causes the product to appear to be the source of the request, leading it to act as a proxy or other intermediary between the upstream component and the external actor.

Executive Summary

This vulnerability is a confused deputy issue in Google Lens within Google Chrome before version 155.0.8059.39. It allows a remote attacker who has already compromised the renderer process to execute arbitrary code outside the sandbox by tricking the browser into performing unintended actions through a crafted HTML page.

Detection Guidance

This vulnerability is specific to Google Chrome versions prior to 155.0.8059.39. To detect it, check your Chrome version by running chrome://version/ in the browser. If your version is below 155.0.8059.39, the system is vulnerable.

Impact Analysis

If exploited, this vulnerability could allow an attacker to run malicious code on your device, potentially stealing data, installing malware, or taking control of your system. Since it bypasses the sandbox, it poses a higher risk than typical renderer exploits.

Mitigation Strategies

Update Google Chrome to version 155.0.8059.39 or later immediately. This can be done via the browser's built-in update mechanism or by downloading the latest version from Google's official site.
