Executive Summary

This is a race condition vulnerability in the Fonts component of Google Chrome before version 155.0.8059.39. A race condition occurs when two or more operations attempt to access shared data simultaneously, leading to unexpected behavior. In this case, an attacker who has already compromised the renderer process could exploit this flaw to execute arbitrary code outside the browser's sandbox by using a specially crafted HTML page.

Impact Analysis

If you are using an affected version of Google Chrome, an attacker could potentially take control of your browser session, steal sensitive data, install malware, or perform actions on your behalf without your knowledge. This is especially dangerous if you handle confidential information or use the browser for sensitive tasks.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability could lead to unauthorized access to personal or sensitive data, which may violate compliance requirements under GDPR (data protection) or HIPAA (health information privacy). Organizations using vulnerable Chrome versions risk non-compliance, potential fines, and reputational damage if exploited.

Mitigation Strategies

Update Google Chrome to version 155.0.8059.39 or later to address the race condition in Fonts that could allow arbitrary code execution outside the sandbox.
