Integer Overflow in MongoDB Go Driver Causes DoS

Vulnerability report for CVE-2026-107324, including description, CVSS score, EPSS score, affected products, exploitability, helpful resources, and attack-flow context.

Publication date: 2026-10-08

Last updated on: 2026-10-08

Assigner: MongoDB, Inc.

Description

An integer overflow in BSON value-length handling in the MongoDB Go Driver can cause a runtime panic when an application validates or accesses a malformed BSON document. An unauthenticated actor who can supply BSON bytes to an affected application may terminate an unprotected application process, causing a denial of service. The driver's server-monitoring path contains panic recovery and is limited to server-selection failure.

Exploitability

CWE ID Description
CWE-190 The product performs a calculation that can produce an integer overflow or wraparound when the logic assumes that the resulting value will always be larger than the original value. This occurs when an integer value is incremented to a value that is too large to store in the associated representation. When this occurs, the value may become a very small or negative number.

Executive Summary

An integer overflow in BSON value-length handling in the MongoDB Go Driver can cause a runtime panic when an application validates or accesses a malformed BSON document. This may lead to an unauthenticated actor terminating an unprotected application process, causing a denial of service.

Detection Guidance

This vulnerability involves an integer overflow in BSON value-length handling in the MongoDB Go Driver. Detection requires checking for applications using vulnerable versions of the MongoDB Go Driver and monitoring for runtime panics or crashes when processing BSON documents.

Impact Analysis

If exploited, this vulnerability could allow an attacker to crash an application using the MongoDB Go Driver by supplying malformed BSON data, resulting in a denial of service.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability causes a denial of service by terminating application processes, which could disrupt data processing operations. For GDPR, this may impact availability of personal data processing systems. For HIPAA, it could affect the availability of electronic protected health information systems.

Mitigation Strategies

Update the MongoDB Go Driver to the latest patched version immediately. If updating is not possible, restrict network access to applications using the driver to prevent unauthenticated actors from supplying malformed BSON data.
