Description

Indico is an event management system that uses Flask-Multipass, a multi-backend authentication system for Flask. Prior to 3.3.13, the previous fix for CVE-2026-25738 did not cover an edge case, allowing an event organizer to submit a crafted URL that points to a prohibited local target but is accepted as valid by Indico. The organizer can read data returned by the target through affected Indico features. This issue is fixed in version 3.3.13.

Executive Summary

CVE-2026-107394 is an incomplete fix for a Server-Side Request Forgery (SSRF) vulnerability in Indico, an event management system. It allows event organizers to submit crafted URLs that bypass restrictions, enabling access to restricted targets like localhost or cloud metadata endpoints. The issue affects versions prior to 3.3.13.

Detection Guidance

To detect this vulnerability, check if your Indico instance is running a version prior to 3.3.13. Use commands like 'indico --version' or inspect the version in the web interface. Monitor network logs for outgoing requests to localhost or internal IPs from event organizer actions.

Impact Analysis

An attacker with event organizer privileges could exploit this to read sensitive data from restricted targets. If the system does not host sensitive data without authentication, the risk is minimal. Upgrading to version 3.3.13 or later is recommended to mitigate this issue.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability could potentially lead to unauthorized access to sensitive data, which may violate compliance requirements under GDPR (data protection) and HIPAA (health information privacy). Unauthorized access to restricted targets like localhost or cloud metadata endpoints could expose personal or health data, leading to regulatory breaches.

Mitigation Strategies

Immediately update Indico to version 3.3.13 or later. Configure http_proxy and https_proxy environment variables for indico-uwsgi and indico-celery services to route outgoing requests through a controlled proxy. Restrict event organizer privileges if possible.
