Executive Summary

ruoyi-ai versions 3.0.0 through 3.1.0 have a missing authorization flaw in the GET /workflow/search endpoint. Authenticated non-admin users can access this endpoint to view other users' private workflows within the same tenant. The endpoint does not filter by owner or public status, allowing retrieval of UUIDs and full configurations of private workflows.

Detection Guidance

To detect this vulnerability, check if the GET /workflow/search endpoint is accessible without proper authorization. Use tools like curl to send authenticated requests and verify if private workflows from other users are exposed. Example: curl -X GET 'http://target-server/workflow/search' -H 'Authorization: Bearer <token>'

Inspect network traffic for unauthorized access to /workflow/search. Monitor logs for unusual queries to this endpoint by non-admin users.

Impact Analysis

An attacker with valid non-admin credentials could access sensitive workflow data belonging to other users in the same tenant. This includes private workflow configurations, which may contain proprietary or confidential information. The impact is limited to data exposure within the same tenant.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability could lead to unauthorized access to personal or sensitive data, violating GDPR's data protection principles and HIPAA's security requirements. Organizations using affected versions may face compliance violations, potential fines, and reputational damage due to data exposure.

Mitigation Strategies

Immediately upgrade ruoyi-ai to a version beyond 3.1.0 where this vulnerability is patched. If upgrading is not possible, restrict access to the /workflow/search endpoint to admin users only.

Apply strict input validation and implement proper authorization checks to ensure only authorized users can access private workflows. Review and audit all workflow access logs for suspicious activity.
