Executive Summary

This vulnerability is a server-side request forgery (SSRF) in Casdoor versions up to 3.164.0/4.10.0. It exists in the CasP3ProxyValidate function of the file controllers/cas.go, specifically when handling the pgtUrl argument. An attacker can manipulate this argument to force the server to make unauthorized requests.

Detection Guidance

To detect this SSRF vulnerability in Casdoor, check if your system is running versions up to 3.164.0 or 4.10.0. Inspect the controllers/cas.go file for the CasP3ProxyValidate function and verify if pgtUrl parameter handling lacks proper validation. Review network logs for unusual outbound requests originating from the Casdoor service.

Impact Analysis

An attacker could exploit this to send crafted requests from the vulnerable server, potentially accessing internal systems, exfiltrating data, or performing unauthorized actions. This could lead to data breaches, service disruption, or further network compromise depending on the server's environment.

Compliance Impact

This SSRF vulnerability could lead to unauthorized data access or exfiltration, violating GDPR's data protection principles or HIPAA's safeguards for protected health information. Compliance may be compromised if sensitive data is exposed due to the vulnerability.

Mitigation Strategies

Upgrade Casdoor to version 4.11.0 or later immediately. Apply the patch commit 03c6c9aaa2eda5b085ce128ce0d60b34094efbd9. Review and restrict proxy target authorization in CAS protocol handling. Monitor for any signs of exploitation attempts targeting the pgtUrl parameter.
