Executive Summary

CVE-2026-108899 is an improper authorization flaw in tobychui zoraxy up to version 3.3.4. It affects the Path Exception Matcher component in the handleBasicAuth function. The vulnerability allows attackers to bypass authentication by manipulating the PathPrefix argument, enabling unauthorized remote access to protected resources.

Detection Guidance

Check Zoraxy version with 'zoraxy -v' or inspect running processes. If version is <=3.3.4, the system is vulnerable. Review authentication logs for unauthorized access attempts or unusual path patterns like '/publicAdminPanel' bypassing '/public' restrictions.

Impact Analysis

This vulnerability allows remote attackers to bypass authentication mechanisms such as Basic Auth, ZorxAuth SSO, and CAPTCHA. It can expose sensitive paths like '/publicAdminPanel' when '/public' is excluded, granting unauthorized access. Additionally, attackers can forge HTTP headers to bypass IP whitelists or blacklists if the system is behind a trusted proxy.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability can lead to unauthorized access to sensitive data, violating confidentiality requirements in GDPR and HIPAA. It undermines access control measures, potentially resulting in data breaches and non-compliance with regulatory standards that mandate strict access controls and audit logging.

Mitigation Strategies

Upgrade Zoraxy to version 3.3.5-rc1 or later immediately. Review and tighten path-exception rules to use exact path boundaries instead of raw string prefixes. Disable spoofable headers like X-Real-Ip and X-Forwarded-For if not required.
