CWE ID Description
CWE-89 The product constructs all or part of an SQL command using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify the intended SQL command when it is sent to a downstream component. Without sufficient removal or quoting of SQL syntax in user-controllable inputs, the generated SQL query can cause those inputs to be interpreted as SQL instead of ordinary user data.

Executive Summary

CVE-2026-109169 is a SQL injection vulnerability in LogicalDOC Community Edition through version 9.3. It allows authenticated users to inject malicious SQL queries via the firstLetter parameter in TagsDataServlet. Attackers can use UNION SELECT statements to extract sensitive data like usernames, email addresses, and password hashes from the ld_user table.

Detection Guidance

To detect this vulnerability, inspect network traffic for requests to TagsDataServlet with the firstLetter parameter containing SQL-like payloads such as UNION SELECT. Check logs for unusual XML responses containing user data from ld_user. Use tools like Wireshark or tcpdump to capture HTTP requests targeting /TagsDataServlet?firstLetter=.

Impact Analysis

If you use LogicalDOC Community Edition version 9.3 or earlier, an attacker with low privileges could exploit this flaw to steal sensitive user data, including credentials. This could lead to unauthorized access to accounts, data breaches, or further attacks within your system.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability could lead to unauthorized access to personal data, violating GDPR and HIPAA requirements for data protection and confidentiality. Organizations using affected versions may face compliance violations, legal penalties, and reputational damage due to data exposure.

Mitigation Strategies

Immediately update LogicalDOC Community Edition to version 9.3 or later where the vulnerability is patched. If updating is not possible, restrict access to TagsDataServlet via firewall rules or disable the servlet if unused. Monitor for suspicious SQL queries in application logs.
