Description

jshERP through 3.6 contains an authorization bypass vulnerability that allows authenticated users to read data from unassigned warehouses by supplying depotId or depotIds request parameters. When depot_flag warehouse restriction is enabled, attackers can name arbitrary warehouse ids in endpoints like /depotItem/getMaterialDepotStockByParam to read stock levels, batch numbers, sales figures and priced bill lines within the tenant.

Executive Summary

This vulnerability in jshERP through version 3.6 allows authenticated users to bypass warehouse access restrictions by supplying arbitrary warehouse IDs in request parameters. When depot_flag warehouse restriction is enabled, attackers can access data from unassigned warehouses by manipulating endpoints like /depotItem/getMaterialDepotStockByParam to read sensitive information such as stock levels, batch numbers, sales figures, and priced bill lines within the same tenant.

Detection Guidance

To detect this vulnerability, test endpoints like /depotItem/getMaterialDepotStockByParam by sending requests with arbitrary depotId or depotIds parameters. Compare responses with legitimate access to identify unauthorized data exposure. Use the provided PoC scripts to automate testing of vulnerable endpoints such as /depotHead/list, /depotHead/waitBillList, and /depotItem/findStockWarningCount.

Impact Analysis

This vulnerability allows unauthorized users to read sensitive warehouse data including stock levels, financial information, and sales figures from warehouses they should not have access to. While primarily read-only, it could potentially enable further exploitation if combined with other vulnerabilities or misconfigurations.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability could lead to unauthorized access to sensitive data, potentially violating data protection regulations like GDPR (which requires proper access controls for personal data) and HIPAA (which mandates strict controls over protected health information). Unauthorized data exposure may result in compliance violations and regulatory penalties.

Mitigation Strategies

Immediately update jshERP to the latest version beyond 3.6. Implement strict input validation for all user-supplied parameters like depotIds. Enforce role-based access control to ensure users only access assigned warehouses. Disable the depot_flag warehouse restriction bypass by validating warehouse IDs against user permissions in all endpoints.
