Executive Summary

This vulnerability in jshERP through version 3.6 allows authenticated users to bypass authorization checks by setting the status parameter to 1 in POST requests to /depotHead/addDepotHeadAndDetail. This skips audit permissions and multi-level approval workflows, enabling creation of pre-approved bills that affect stock and reports.

Detection Guidance

To detect this vulnerability, monitor POST requests to /depotHead/addDepotHeadAndDetail with status=1 from low-privilege users. Check for unauthorized bill creation or financial data changes in audit logs. Use tools like Wireshark or tcpdump to inspect HTTP traffic for suspicious API calls.

Impact Analysis

Attackers with low privileges can create audited bills without proper approval, manipulate financial data like debt and deposit counters, clone foreign bills, and access sensitive financial information. Changes to financial counters have no undo and require manual SQL restoration.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability could lead to unauthorized financial transactions and data tampering, violating integrity and audit requirements in GDPR and HIPAA. It enables bypassing approval workflows, risking non-compliance with data protection and financial record-keeping regulations.

Mitigation Strategies

Immediately update jshERP to the latest version beyond 3.6. Implement strict input validation for the status parameter in /depotHead/addDepotHeadAndDetail. Enforce role-based access controls and audit permission checks before bill creation. Monitor financial counters for unauthorized changes.
