Description

A flaw was found in Quay. An authenticated attacker can access repository auto-prune configurations from other namespaces, leading to unauthorized information disclosure. This issue occurs because the application does not properly enforce namespace scoping when retrieving policy details by repository name and policy identifier. To exploit the vulnerability, the attacker must manage a repository sharing the target's name and know the target policy's unique identifier.

Executive Summary

CVE-2026-109195 is an Insecure Direct Object Reference (IDOR) flaw in Red Hat Quay. It allows an authenticated attacker to access repository auto-prune configurations from other namespaces by exploiting insufficient namespace scoping in the API endpoint. The attacker must manage a repository with the same name as the target and know the target policy's unique identifier.

Detection Guidance

To detect this vulnerability, inspect Quay API logs for unauthorized access attempts to the auto-prune policy endpoint (/api/v1/repository/<namespace>/<repository>/autoprunepolicy/<policy_uuid>). Look for requests with mismatched namespace and repository names. Check if non-admin users are accessing policies outside their namespace.

Impact Analysis

This vulnerability allows unauthorized read-only access to low-sensitivity auto-prune policy details such as prune method, value, and tag pattern. It does not expose container images, registry credentials, or allow modification/deletion of policies. Exploitation requires specific prerequisites, making it difficult to leverage.

Mitigation Strategies

Apply available patches from Red Hat if available. Monitor API access logs for suspicious activity. Restrict repository naming conventions to avoid conflicts. Ensure namespace scoping is enforced in all API endpoints. Consider upgrading to a supported Quay version if mitigation options are unavailable.
