Last updated on: 2026-10-12

Assigner: VulnCheck

Description

LibreNMS before 26.9.0 contains a path traversal vulnerability in nfsen_channel_common.inc.php that allows authenticated users to read unauthorized RRD data by injecting ../ sequences into the channel parameter. Attackers with access to one NFSen-enabled device can request graph.php with a traversed channel value to view traffic and NetFlow graphs of devices outside their authorized scope.

Executive Summary

LibreNMS before version 26.9.0 has a path traversal vulnerability in the NFSen channel parameter. Authenticated users can inject ../ sequences to read unauthorized RRD data by accessing graph.php with a manipulated channel value. This allows viewing traffic and NetFlow graphs of devices outside their authorized scope.

Detection Guidance

Check LibreNMS version with 'php -r "include(\"includes\/common.php\"); echo $config['version'];". If below 26.9.0, the system is vulnerable. Monitor graph.php requests for unusual channel parameters containing ../ sequences in access logs.

Impact Analysis

An attacker with access to one NFSen-enabled device could view sensitive traffic and NetFlow data of other devices they are not authorized to access. This could lead to unauthorized data exposure or monitoring of network activity.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability could lead to unauthorized access to sensitive data, potentially violating compliance requirements for data protection and privacy such as GDPR or HIPAA. Unauthorized data exposure may result in regulatory penalties or legal consequences.

Mitigation Strategies

Upgrade LibreNMS to version 26.9.0 or later immediately. If upgrading is not possible, restrict access to graph.php and nfsen_channel_common.inc.php files via web server configuration or firewall rules until patched.
