Description

LibreNMS before 26.9.0 contains a stored cross-site scripting vulnerability in get_oxidized_nodes_list() that renders Oxidized API fields and SNMP sysName unescaped. Attackers controlling the Oxidized response or a device's SNMP sysName can inject script that executes in browsers of users viewing the Tools Oxidized page.

Executive Summary

CVE-2026-109355 is a stored cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability in LibreNMS versions before 26.9.0. It occurs in the Tools Oxidized Node List feature where the function get_oxidized_nodes_list() renders unescaped data from the Oxidized API and SNMP sysName fields into HTML. Attackers can inject malicious scripts into fields like name, status, or group via the Oxidized API or sysName via SNMP. These scripts execute when users view the Tools Oxidized page.

Detection Guidance

Check LibreNMS version with `./validate.php --version` or via the web UI under System β†’ About. Inspect Oxidized API responses and SNMP sysName fields for unescaped HTML or script tags. Review Tools β†’ Oxidized page source for `{!! !!}` template usage indicating legacy rendering.

Impact Analysis

This vulnerability allows attackers to execute arbitrary scripts in the browsers of users viewing the Tools Oxidized page. This could lead to session hijacking, theft of credentials, or unauthorized actions performed on behalf of the user. Attackers can exploit it by controlling the Oxidized API response or manipulating SNMP sysName values.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability could potentially violate compliance with GDPR and HIPAA by enabling stored cross-site scripting (XSS) attacks. XSS attacks may lead to unauthorized data access, modification, or exfiltration, which are critical concerns under both regulations. GDPR requires protection against unauthorized data processing, while HIPAA mandates safeguards for protected health information (PHI). Exploitation of this flaw could result in breaches of confidentiality and integrity of sensitive data.

Mitigation Strategies

Upgrade LibreNMS to version 26.9.0 or later. Apply `htmlspecialchars()` to all rendered fields in `get_oxidized_nodes_list()`. Validate or escape Oxidized JSON data at fetch boundaries. Monitor for suspicious SNMP sysName values.
