Executive Summary

This vulnerability affects Frappe Framework versions 15.x before 15.107.3 and 16.x before 16.17.0 due to its use of a vulnerable pdfkit library (CVE-2025-26240) for PDF generation. It allows server-side request forgery and local file inclusion through crafted PDF content.

Detection Guidance

Check if your Frappe Framework version is below 15.107.3 or 16.17.0. Inspect PDF generation dependencies for the vulnerable pdfkit library (CVE-2025-26240). Review server logs for unusual PDF rendering requests or file access patterns.

Impact Analysis

Authenticated attackers can exploit this to make the server fetch internal resources or embed local files in generated PDFs. This could lead to unauthorized data access, information disclosure, or further attacks on the system.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability could lead to unauthorized data access or disclosure, violating GDPR's data protection requirements and HIPAA's safeguards for protected health information. Compliance may be compromised if sensitive data is exposed.

Mitigation Strategies

Upgrade Frappe Framework to version 15.107.3 or later for 15.x, or 16.17.0 or later for 16.x. Remove or replace the vulnerable pdfkit library. Restrict server access to prevent unauthorized PDF generation requests.
