Impact Analysis

An attacker with portal access could create unauthorized documents under another party's account, potentially leading to data leaks, fraudulent transactions, or compliance violations. This could affect data integrity and trust in the system.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability could violate GDPR's data integrity and accountability principles or HIPAA's access controls, leading to unauthorized data exposure. Compliance may be compromised if sensitive documents are improperly created or accessed.

Mitigation Strategies

Upgrade Frappe ERPNext to version 15.105.0 or later for the 15.x branch, or to version 16.15.0 or later for the 16.x branch to address the missing authorization vulnerability in document creation endpoints.
