Executive Summary

This is a missing authorization vulnerability in the internal API `/api/v1/secrets/` of Moxa's industrial computing products. A low-privileged authenticated attacker with adjacent network access could exploit it to access sensitive information, including cryptographic key material.

Detection Guidance

To detect this vulnerability, check for unauthorized access to the internal API endpoint /api/v1/secrets/ on Moxa industrial computing products. Monitor network traffic for requests to this endpoint from low-privileged authenticated users with adjacent network access.

Impact Analysis

An attacker could gain access to confidential data, such as cryptographic keys, potentially leading to further attacks or data breaches. This could compromise system integrity and confidentiality.

Compliance Impact

The vulnerability allows low-privileged attackers to access sensitive information, including cryptographic key material, which could lead to unauthorized data disclosure. This may violate compliance requirements under GDPR (data protection) and HIPAA (healthcare data privacy) by exposing confidential information without proper authorization.

Mitigation Strategies

Immediately restrict access to the /api/v1/secrets/ API endpoint to only authorized users. Update Moxa industrial computing products to the latest firmware version if a patch is available. Implement network segmentation to limit adjacent network access to sensitive systems.
