Executive Summary

EspoCRM before version 10.0.7 has an Insecure Direct Object Reference (IDOR) vulnerability. Authenticated users with Import scope access can read other users' attachments by supplying a foreign attachmentId to the Import endpoint. Attackers create an Import record referencing a known attachment ID, then use the error export endpoint to copy source rows into a downloadable CSV they own.

Detection Guidance

To detect this vulnerability, monitor EspoCRM logs for suspicious Import operations referencing foreign attachment IDs. Check for unauthorized CSV exports via the error export endpoint. Review user access logs for users with Import scope accessing attachments not owned by them.

Impact Analysis

This vulnerability allows low-privileged users to access sensitive data from other users' attachments if they know the attachment ID. It can lead to unauthorized data exposure, privacy breaches, or information leaks within the EspoCRM system.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability could violate compliance with GDPR, HIPAA, or other privacy regulations by enabling unauthorized access to sensitive personal or health data. Organizations using vulnerable EspoCRM versions may face legal penalties, reputational damage, and increased scrutiny for failing to protect user data.

Mitigation Strategies

Upgrade EspoCRM to version 10.0.7 or later immediately. Remove Import scope access from users who do not require it. Implement strict authorization checks to prevent unauthorized access to attachments. Monitor for any signs of exploitation in logs.
