Description

The Salon Booking System WordPress plugin before 10.31.9 does not correctly verify the authenticity of REST API requests and discards WordPress core's nonce check for cookie-authenticated sessions across the whole REST API, allowing unauthenticated attackers who trick a logged-in administrator into clicking a crafted link to forge requests in that administrator's browser, up to creating a new administrator account.

Executive Summary

The Salon Booking System WordPress plugin before version 10.31.9 has a Cross-Site Request Forgery (CSRF) vulnerability. It bypasses WordPress core's nonce check for cookie-authenticated sessions across the entire REST API. This allows unauthenticated attackers to trick a logged-in administrator into clicking a malicious link, which can forge requests in the administrator's browser.

Detection Guidance

Check the installed version of the Salon Booking System plugin using WordPress admin dashboard or via command line with: wp plugin list --name='Salon Booking System'. If the version is below 10.31.9, the system is vulnerable.

Impact Analysis

An attacker could exploit this to create a new administrator account on your WordPress site without your knowledge. This could lead to full control of your site, allowing the attacker to modify content, steal data, or install malicious plugins.

Mitigation Strategies

Update the Salon Booking System plugin to version 10.31.9 or later immediately. Disable the plugin temporarily if an update is not available. Monitor for suspicious administrator account creations.
