Description

Nezha from 2.2.5 before 2.3.15 contains an information disclosure vulnerability that allows authenticated users to retrieve third-party credentials because listDDNS omits WebhookURL and WebhookRequestBody redaction. Admins or PATs with nezha:ddns:read scope can call GET /api/v1/ddns to read cleartext tokens embedded in every user's DDNS webhook profiles.

Executive Summary

Nezha versions 2.2.5 to 2.3.15 have an information disclosure vulnerability. Authenticated users with specific permissions can retrieve third-party credentials in cleartext. The issue occurs in the listDDNS function, which fails to redact WebhookURL and WebhookRequestBody fields. Attackers with nezha:ddns:read scope can call GET /api/v1/ddns to access these credentials embedded in users' DDNS webhook profiles.

Detection Guidance

To detect this vulnerability, check if your Nezha instance is running a vulnerable version (>=2.2.5 and <2.3.15). Use the API endpoint GET /api/v1/ddns with nezha:ddns:read scope to see if WebhookURL and WebhookRequestBody fields return cleartext secrets. If they do, your system is vulnerable.

Impact Analysis

This vulnerability allows unauthorized access to third-party credentials, potentially leading to account takeovers, data breaches, or unauthorized actions on behalf of users. Attackers could misuse these credentials to access external services, exfiltrate sensitive data, or perform malicious activities.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability likely violates GDPR and HIPAA due to unauthorized access to credentials and potential exposure of sensitive data. GDPR requires protection of personal data, while HIPAA mandates safeguarding protected health information. The breach could result in legal penalties, reputational damage, and loss of compliance certifications.

Mitigation Strategies

Upgrade Nezha to version 2.3.15 or later to address the information disclosure vulnerability in DDNS webhook profiles.
